Gold Reef City

The Golden City Theme Park is located in the south of Johannesburg. This is a theme park built on the site of the former gold mine. The park realistically reproduces the buildings of the Golden City during the gold rush from the late 18th century to the early 19th century. There are also bank post offices, police stations, restaurants and bars that reflect prosperity. The mine in the Golden City was dug to a depth of 3,200 meters underground. Now tourists can wear safety equipment and go down to 220 meters underground to observe the actual operation of gold mining at that time and understand the hardships of the gold diggers back then. You can also go to see the actual melting of gold and the whole process of casting gold bricks.

There are also many amusement projects and roller coasters in the Golden City for tourists to entertain. A large aerial vehicle resembling a "pirate ship" is especially popular with teenagers.
